The Rays come to Tampa
I know it's been two months since my last post and alot of has happened. I'm starting to wish I talked about the Yankees-Dodgers World Series. Probably could have been a better Series if The Yankees got the final out in Game 1 and sorry Yankees fans Game 5. Trust me it sucks losing to the Dodgers in the World Series, my Rays lost to them and some Rays fans haven't forgiven Kevin Cash for pulling Blake Snell from Game 6 after only 71 pitches. Granted yes, Yankees to the Dodgers in More World Series like in 1964 and 1981 in addition to this past season. Also, Juan Soto got 765 Million Dollars for 15 Years to be with the Mets. Sorry Yankees fans. Speaking of the Yankees, The Rays will play the Yankees Spring Training and Tampa Tarpons home for the 2025 season and so far only for that season after the Roof at the Trop collapsed because Hurricane Milton hit the area. If you're wondering, Steinbrenner Field seats 11 thousand people. I wonder if they could add more seats in Left Field and Center though who will pay for that if that happens. Right Field isn't expanding, too close to Dale Mabry. I believe it would be a good place for the Rays to built a stadium in the future but they would have to buy the land from the Yankees (or whoever owns that land) and buy up surrounding areas. However, will Hillsborough County Commissioners play ball (some pun intended)? The team is having a heck of a time with the Pinellas County Commissioners. I rather not get into politics of it. Trying not to go back to talking about politics here. However, I will say that I wished the owners who are mostly billionaires would pay for the majority of the new stadium. Maybe time to time but that's it. Are the Rays ownership negotiating in good faith or they trying to pull what the ownership of the A's did and move out. In a related story, the A's are playing in Sacramento for the next three years at the Triple-A stadium there. I know the Rays copied Moneyball from them and this is ridiculous. I'm sure MLB loves that two of their teams are in minor leagues stadiums. Probably should be three considering that the White Sox would lose to a few Triple-A teams since they lost more games than any other team in the modern era with 121 losses. Will things improve for the White Sox? Who knows? The 2021 Baltimore Orioles lost over 100 games then two years later they won over 100 games. Just saying White Sox fans. Granted yes the A's had a choice, they could have played three more years in Oakland but decided not to. The Rays not so much. As for the Trop, honestly, I don't think it should be rebuilt. For what? Play for another two seasons then the Trop will be destroyed in 2028? I don't think so. I rather the Rays play in Steinbrenner Field for the next three years not just one. I know wishful thinking but spent 55 million for something that's going to be gone in a few years. I believe that money could go elsewhere. At least for a season, us Tampa residents get our wish of the Rays playing in Tampa though again the stadium seats 11K. I better go to a games or several myself.
