Shows that should have ended sooner

Let's be honest, most of us want our favorite shows to go on forever but sadly that's not the case though there are shows like NCIS (the original), Spongebob Squarepants, Grey's Anatomy, and Law and Order SUV have last over 20 seasons. Heck, I'm sure several people started watching Spongebob as kids and now their kids are watching it. Also, to some extent, the original Law and Order has been on for 23 seasons though their original run ended in 2010 and came back in 2022. Even if the show is about to end, fans hope for a good ending. I wrote a post back in May 2022 saying how three shows (NCIS New Orleans, Scorpion, and Macgyver the reboot) should have lasted longer at least for a season. OK maybe at least NCIS: New Orleans and Scorpion, thinking back about the rebooted Macgyver I was OK with the ending more so than the other two shows. I know what I said in the original post and I think they're were storylines that could have happened if Macgyver had another season or several. Heck, I think Home Improvement could have lasted another season and ABC tried to make that happen. Also, I like to add Victorious to that list, I think they should have had a proper ending plus the show could have been a good lead-in for Sam and Cat, a blown opportunity for Nickelodeon. Back on the topic, here are shows that I've watch that should have ended sooner.

The Office: It started to get long in the tooth in its sixth season then Steve Carell towards the end of season 7 and James Spader well it wasn't his best work. Was it on him? The Writers? Both? To be fair, Spader was the second choice to replace Carell's Michael Scott. Catherine Tate who played Nellie was actually the first choice but commitments to another project delayed her return to the Office and she replaced Andy Bernard as Regional Manager though Andy the position back and toward the end Dwight got it the position he so desperately wanted. I think Rainn Wilson carried the show the time Steve Carell was not there. However, the last episodes were pretty good and I enjoyed the ending. Also, there are rumors there might be a reboot so stay tuned for that.

The Blacklist: Speaking of James Spader, it didn't work out in the Office but it did for the Blacklist. He played the most wanted man in the world who surrenders to the FBI and ends up striking a deal to them put other criminals behind bars and wants Elizabeth Keene to help him. Probably should have ended after Megan Boone (Keene) left after season 8. I was OK with the ending but I would have liked to know what happened with the rest of the task force after Spader's character was killed by a bull. Were they reassigned? Left the FBI?

Glee: Fox's version of Victorious except for the whole cast sang (Blame Dan Schneider and the writers for Tori Vega for getting most of the songs). I know I know though Rachel Berry has as much hate as Tori Vega if not more. However, I believe the hate of Rachel Berry is more warranted and the same the actress playing her Lea Michelle. It started to ran a little long when the original group graduated and the show new people and kept following some of the original members of the New Directions.

Probably my most controversial pick of them all is Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Nothing against the last three seasons of the show on NBC, I did enjoy but I would have been satisfied if the ending of the show in the fifth season with Jake and Amy getting married and Captain Holt getting a call if he was the commissioner or not (he wasn't when they got revived on NBC though if they ended the show there people could have assumed he got the job). I think it would have been a better ending than Jake quitting the force (or retiring). That's my opinion but I am sure people would disagree.
