Donald Trump: Bills owner?
I was debating posting this because I stopped talking about politics even though I started this blog when I started my half-assed attempt to run for US Congress, I didn't even qualify. I had to stop, it was starting to strain on me writing about politics. Granted it's mostly about what if he was the owner of the Buffalo Bills but when you talk about Trump you got to tread lightly. I'll try not to be too much of a dick with this post though no promises. I bring this up because it was mentioned during his civil trial in New York on whether he overvalued his company or not and also seeing a quote from Trump that if he was the Bills owner, he would not run for president. If I knew that, I would have found a time machine and go to Dan Synder to see if he had blackmail material on Roger Goodell, make copies, visit Goodell or mail the blackmail materials along with a letter saying make Trump the Bills owner or this becomes public. I'll let that judge of that case decision before I give out my judgment if I do, I'll leave it at that. After, the death of Ralph Wilson the Buffalo Bills were put on sale and Trump, Bon Jovi, and the Pegulas were bidders of the team. It was a surprise that Trump was allowed to bid for any NFL team and he owned the USFL's New Jersey Generals and he spearheaded the battle between the USFL and the NFL which didn't end well for the USFL. Should have stayed in the Spring. At least the USFL came back in 2022 which included the Generals. However, instead of giving the NFL his finances, he gave them a copy of Forbes. Really? You're trying to be the owner of a NFL team not a host of a Reality TV show. The NFL needed to know he had the finances to own a team. Not to mention one would think he would be proud to show if he had that money to own a team and then some. No one he's being investigated for fraud. It's sad that the NFL has more standards than us the voters. Yeah, I went there and I mean all of us voters. I admit I made questionable voting choices. Also, has Trump released his taxes yet? Anyway, the Pegulas got the team and they're still the owners. I do believe that Trump would have hired Rex Ryan like the Pegulas did. In fairness, the head coach at the time Doug Marrone quit so the Pegulas had to hire a new coach however they made the wrong decision. Why? The Bills had a good 4-3 defense with three of the players on the D-line making the Pro Bowl both in 2013 and 2014 with the fourth starting D-Line getting 10 sacks a season. The Pegulas should have hired an offensive-minded coach especially to help out EJ Manuel, a quarterback drafted in the first round in 2013 and Sammy Watkins, a receiver drafted in the first round in 2014 and kept the 4-3 defense. Instead, they went for the ticket sales and hired Rex Ryan a 3-4 Defensive Guy. I think that was a mistake but in fairness, the Bills took a little hit and the guy who replaced him (not counting Anthony Lynn), Sean McDermott who came in 2017 is still the head coach. I think Trump would have done the same thing. I also think he would have prevented Colin Kaepernick from getting signed elsewhere like he did as a candidate unless Diddy brought the Panthers. That would be a heck an alternate universe if both Trump and Diddy were NFL owners. I do believe Diddy didn't get the Panthers because the owners didn't want Kaepernick back in the NFL. I think Trump would have run the Bills like Synder owned the Washington Team. Probably another reason why the NFL didn't reward Trump the Bills. One Dan Synder was enough. Plus would the Bills fan taken the hit of having Trump as the owner of their team even it meant no Trump Presidency? Probably not. Heck, most NFL Fanbases probably wouldn't. Well maybe teams like the Jets, Cardinals, and others that always sucked. I'm sure some would ask me would you want Trump to own the Bucs? Hell NO. Plus us Buc fans have already dealt with a shitty owner in Hugh Culverhouse. We really didn't want to go down that road again. Plus I doubt he would buy a Tampa team after the USFL days when the Tampa Bay Bandits were the Generals' rivals and he's petty. Also, why did the Bandits turn into the Memphis Showboats after the 2022 season? The league is owned as of now by Fox. Take that what you will of it. However, if I did make a choice between Trump as Bucs owner or Trump as the 45th President then I would choose Trump as Bucs owner. I have a sour taste in my mouth saying that. Maybe things would have been better if Trump was a NFL owner not the 45 President of the US. I can only guess at this point.
