Welcome to the Formula One Grid Logan Sargeant

I got into Formula One thanks to Netflix's series Drive to Survive and I saw the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on ESPN where Lewis Hamilton won which as of now after the 2022 season is Hamilton's last win. Since Drive to Survive, I've been hooked. Watching the races when I can and watching Youtube videos by WTF1 and Josh Revell among others and it's not just me. Other Americans have been flocking to the sport probably since Liberty Media bought F1 and again Drive to Survive. Prior to that, well not so much. Even though the previous owner of Formula One Bernie Ecclestone tried to make it work a number of times including having three American races in 1982 (Detroit, Long Beach, and Vegas). He also tried Dallas and Phoenix but no luck. Well, there was the Indianapolis 500 but after the 2005 race where only six drivers raced because the Michelin tire teams retired because the tires wore out faster than the Bridgestone drivers and the FIA didn't do anything to adjust things to fix things. Long story short it was a big mess. The last race in Indy was 2007 and it was the last F1 race in America until 2012 when Austin's COTA had its first race and it had it's tenth race in 2022 only second to Watkins Glen (yes the same Watkins Glen NASCAR races at) for 20 years (1961-1980). Also Ecclestone green-lit the Slyvester Stallone movie Driven though the rest of F1 didn't want to share their secrets so Driven when to the CART Circuit. The Movie bombed so F1 lucked out there. There were drivers from the states including in the 1960s and 1970s like Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, and Mario Andretti with Hill and Andretti winning the Driver's Championship. In the 1980s you had Eddie Cheever though he probably should have raced under the Italian flag since while yes he was born in the States, he was raised in Italy. He was the opposite of Mario Andretti. After Cheever, if you want to count him, their probably only two American drivers in Andretti's son Michael and Scott Speed that were full-time drivers in F1 and neither made it to the third year. Honestly, one of the reasons why it took while for F1 to get a good following from America was America has there own circuits like NASCAR and Indy Car. Also, the lack of American drivers after 1982 when Mario Andretti left F1. Granted yes, with Drive to Survive. F1 gained a foothold without an American driver. However, it didn't stop Red Bull trying to get Indy Car driver Colton Herta, whose dad Brian also tried to get into F1 to their AlphaTauri team. However, the FIA deny Colton Herta because he didn't have enough super license points and also rejected Red Bull exemption. The Super License points were a requirement because Red Bull promoted a 17-year-old to F1. That 17-year-old was Max Verstappen and I believed it work out well for them. Williams Racing Team also tried to get an American themselves, his name is Logan Sargeant. He was driving the Carlin team in Formula Two. He missed out on going into Formula 2 in 2021 because he lack funds. Really? His uncle is a billionaire, was he spending that money on Trump (more on that later)? If I was a Billionaire and a nephew driving to make it to F1, I would help him. Anyway, he did get into F2 in 2022 and won two races in Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring, impressing the Williams Racing Team where they tapped Sargeant to replace Nicholas Latifi if he got the points. He needed to finished 5th or 6th in the F2 Standings to get the required points. He finished 4th and now he officially has the seat and we wait for a hundred days. Don't Worry Latifi, NASCAR is an option with Trackhouse's Project 91, same goes for Mick Schumacher and Danny Ric (hint, hint: Justin Marks). Yes, there are questions about Sargeant being a supporter of Trump since his uncle is a top Trump donor. However, I will still root for and support Logan plus if we're going to wait on an American liberal to make F1, we're going to wait a while. Just don't screw it up, Logan. Also, Mario Andretti is a Trump supporter as well. As for Sargeant's expectations, don't expect much. Williams was a great racing team in the 1980s and 1990s and now they're in the bottom of the grid. Maybe he'll do well enough to get the attention of the Mercedes team, they have signed drivers from Williams. Sargeant might not be the only American grid. Jak Crawford got promoted to F2 after finishing 7th in Formula 3 so he's a step away from joining Sargeant who completed against Crawford in F3 in 2021 and there are others in the pipeline so here comes the Americans F1.
