Sequels that wouldn't happen: Talladega Nights 2
After doing my Days of Thunder 2 fan fiction and looking it DannyBTalks vid about Dennit Racing (team from Talladega Nights) which DannyB did for April Fools Day in 2020.
Check it out: Dennit Racing - The Rise & Fall - YouTube
After my post and video, I figured why not do Talladega Nights 2. First I'll start from end of the first movie. After the 2005 UAW-Ford 500, NASCAR investigates the crash caused by Ricky Bobby's replacement Brian Wavecrest where Wavecrest confesses that Larry Dennit Jr. ordered him to crash Cal Naughton Jr. causing the big one. Wavecrest is suspended indefinitely and Dennit is forced to sell the team. Susan, Ricky Bobby's girlfriend played by Amy Adams buys the team and calls it Ricky Bobby Racing. They keep the number 26 and number 47 cars with Bobby returning to the 26 Wonder Bread car for the seven remaining races to help Cal to win the championship which he does beat Tony Stewart in Homestead. So a combination of my vision and DannyB's vision. I have the 62 car coming back for the 2006 season. Cal wins two more championships while Ricky wins races but just couldn't win the championship. Ricky retired in 2012 after his Crew Chief's sudden death with over 100 victories and no titles and Cal followed in 2015 with over 40 victories and three championships. Both ended up in the NASCAR Hall of Fame along with Dennit Sr. and crew chief Lucius Washington. I have the movie starting with showing newspaper clips and/or online articles of the success of Ricky Bobby, Cal, and the racing team during the opening credits and wedding pics of Susan and Ricky Bobby who has two kids of their own with Ricky's two boys from the first marriage. It starts with an interview that goes hilarious wrong mostly because he gets asked about not winning a championship. He goes into Ricky Bobby Racing HQ (a multiple championship-winning team) complaining to his wife Susan, Cal, and others as they set up to start the season at Daytona. Ricky along with Susan runs the team though she for the most part is the boss. Cal is now the crew chief of Lucius Washington Jr whose driving the 47 Powerade car and defending Cup Champion. At Daytona, they wait for the driver of the 26 car for qualifying but he's not there and it turns out he made news by getting arrested for drug possession and having a wild party in his hotel room. With qualifying starting soon, Ricky volunteers but Susan is against this but the choices are her husband or her dad-in-law who also volunteers so she let's Ricky drive for the race. He finishes 3rd behind Lucius Jr. and his son Texas Ranger Bobby or Ranger Bobby or TR Bobby. After the Race, Susan is hesitant but after Wonder Bread comes back to be the primary sponsor and sees how happy Ricky is, she lets him race for the season and Cal switches to be the crew chief for Bobby though Reese (Ricky's Dad) also volunteers to be crew chief. He joins Lucius Jr. and Pierre Martin as his teammates-drivers. Pierre was a one-time F1 who came to NASCAR in the suggestion of his godfather Jean Girard, Ricky's rival from the first movie and Girard suggested his godson to Ricky and Susan. Like his Godfather, Pierre is sponsored by Perrier though his car number is 62. Ricky does well after a decade of being out of the car and dueling Crew Chiefs of Cal and Reese but he's struggling to keep up with the younger drivers including his own drivers and his son who becomes he's the biggest rival. Why you might ask? TR blames Ricky for the death of his brother Walker after Walker who was a part of the pit crew for Cal pulls a prank however it costs Cal a chance another Championship, Ricky fires Walker and Walker couldn't get another NASCAR job so he joined the Army and later was killed in Afghanistan during TR's rookie year in 2019. After TR's 3rd place finish and Rookie of the Year win that season, he leaves the 26 car for a rival team blaming his dad for his brother's death. Ricky is barely in the top 10 after Daytona until Talladega where he wins his first race in a decade. He's in contention for the title along with his son and his drivers. Then a few races later, Ricky has a horrible crash in Kansas similar to the first movie. He's OK other than some bumps and bruises but he's starting to realize, does he want to continue racing? He misses the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600 with his dad substituting driving duties and hides out in one of his homes where his dad pays him a visit to get him to get back in the saddle and has Girard help to do challenges similar to the first movie with a renewed sense of racing. He ends up going to Walker's gravesite and his son TR comes in as well and as Ricky leaves TR says "I don't blame you for firing him, I blame you not doing anything to stop him from joining the Army," Ricky counters and says he did, even offering him a million bucks not to join but he said Walker wanted to join the Army and to serve his country and he realized he couldn't stop him and that he tried to get him another NASCAR but no one would hire Walker after that incident. TR says he wanted Walker to be his crew chief and be like his dad and Cal. They join Susan, Ricky's kids he had with Susan, and Reese before Reese got kicked for being too drunk at an Applebees. TR leaves saying "Love You Dad but I'm getting that title," Ricky responds "I'll have it no other way," as TR gets his grandpa. We get to the final race with Ricky, TR, Pierre, and Lucius Jr. completing for the title. It's a close race but Ricky let off the gas for his son to win the race and the Championship with Ricky finishing in second. TR knew and confronts his dad about it, Ricky defends his action by saying "I will always love you even if you don't love me back and especially if it cost me the title," TR hugs his dad and walks away with Reese telling Ricky "I would have kept my foot on the pedal," Ricky responses "I know, that's you, not me," Reese response "I know, you're a good dad. Just hope it was worth it" Ricky responds "It was". However, TR failed the post-race inspection and the race win and championship is given to Ricky Bobby. He and his team celebrate with his son congratulating and wondering if he can rejoin the team. Ricky tells him "Well I hear the 26 car will need a driver and would like you to take my place," TR says "That's great but I'm under contract" Susan responds "I know your boss, we can work something out. Welcome back," It ends with the team 26 taking a picture with TR.
