My Second Plot for Mrs. Doubtfire 2
This is more plausible than the Tech Billionaire one. This one the Mrs. Doubtfire show is still on and Daniel Hillard is coming off another divorce and his kid in his second marriage is off to college. However, he gets a roommate. His oldest son Chris played by Matt Lawrence moves in as he's going his own divorce while being unemployed after being layout from his job and his ex ends up winning sole custody with Chris getting to see his three kids one day a week for an hour like his dad in Original Mrs. Doubtfire. While Chris is looking for work, the producers are pushing for Daniel to add another character to the show a guy in an animal suit let's say a Dog. At first, he's against this but after talking to Chris about it and the struggle to find a job. Daniel has an idea, why not have Chris be the new character? Plus, it would give Chris an opportunity to see his kids and the show also added a live studio audience. At first it works especially since the grandkids including Chris' kids have a backstage pass to see Grandpa and later on the their dad who takes off the mask surprising the kids who tell their father and grandpa that the secret is safe. It works for a while but the wife gets suspicious and hires a Private Investigator who ends up going to the live show with his own kid who is a fan of the show. He ends up recording video from his iPhone of evidence of Chris being the dog. Ultimately, the ex drags Chris back to court along with Daniel and she accuses them of using the show to for an attempt kidnapping plot which both denying it with Daniel saying "Hey my son wanted to see more than a hour a week and I wanted to see them as well, it was nothing more just to see them," Also, accusing a PI of hiring a kid to play his kid with the PI in the courtroom say "That kid is mine and he is a fan of the show and still is, I just brought him to work like you did and I had a job to do it and I did it". Like the first movie, the judge sides with the ex-wife and grants restraining order for the ex-wife against Chris and Daniel. With the negative publicity, the show is canceled but Daniel convinces the bosses for at least one more show. After the Court Case, Daniel and Chris go to the bar to drown their shallows. Chris calls himself a failure but Daniel gives this speech on how he's not a failure and shows him a stuffed animal of his character and says we sell plenty of stuffed animals of your character and both have a laugh. The next day, the ex-wife gets a visit from Miranda Hillard, Daniel's ex played by Sally Field. Miranda talks to the ex-wife to reconsider the ex-wife responses "Why should I listen to you? Chris is your son and didn't you to the same thing," Miranda give a speech saying Yes I did and how she regret it and don't make the same mistake depriving her kids time with their kid. They tune to the show to see Daniel without his Mrs. Doubtfire makeup and Chris not in Dog suit and they talk about their divorce experiences and it becomes an unofficial roundtable with the audience of how divorce sucks and this impact on the kids. Toward the end of the show, Daniel as Mrs. Doubtfire says goodbye to the audience. After the show, the bosses after receiving plenty of blowback from fans ended up reversing their decision to cancel the show which the cast and crew celebrate and Daniel offers Chris to stay on as the dog. Chris wants to know if he stay on in another position which Daniel replies, I'll think about it. Chris ends up moving out of his dad's place and while he's doing that his ex-wife visits him saying "I'm pretty sure this is violating the restraining order," which the ex-wife replies "Don't worry, the restraining order has been lifted and I'm giving more time with your kids," The movies ends with Chris being an associate producer with someone as the dog and Mrs. Doubtfire entertaining the crowd with the ex-wife and the kids watching in the audience.
