I stopped giving love to the Challenge
Tomorrow the 36th season of the Challenge starts and honestly am unsure I want to watch anymore. I hate to say I will stop watching the Challenge but I'm unsure if I want to watch anymore. Heck, Johnny Bananas isn't on this upcoming season (Shocking I know, he was the franchise). Maybe I'll see the first episode because I'm curious to see how they filmed this season because they filmed this season during the pandemic and would be interesting if they air what the procedures were for the cast and crew. I didn't really see the previous one which the Banana Douche won (Yes, I still hate him, and more than likely that won't end) even though it had Jenna Compono on the series (Sorry Jenna). I didn't/don't like where the producers/casting director are going with the casting of the show. Yes, there's still people on the show when I started watching about 16 years give or take however, about half of the cast is from other shows/other countries. I believe the show succeed when it was just the cast of Real World and Road Rules with some twists like the Fresh Meat and Bloodlines however when I first started watching, Road Rules on it's last legs which ended with X-treme and brought back three years later but that was it. With Road Rules gone, Real World was carrying the load until it also was on its last legs though technically The Real World hasn't been canceled yet. They needed to go to other shows to cast new people. They started with the MTV show Are you the One? (another show still on) but they ended up getting people from Survivor, Big Brother, and International shows. I don't mind the International people if it's the US vs the World Challenge but other than that no international people. Do you're own shit on the other side of the ocean. Nothing against the international people but I still believe that Real World/Road Rules/Challenge alum should have first priority then everyone else. However, let's face it, those wells ran dry and most of the Real World/Road Rules/Challenge alums aren't going to come back because they have lives, careers/jobs, kids, etc. or just flat out don't want to do it anymore and fans like me need to get used to it like it or not. However, there might be light at the end of the tunnel for fans like me. Mark Long who was a part of the first cast on Road Rules and Challenge legend is pitching an idea to Bunim Murray to get the castmembers of the past to come back and it's going film not as long as the current Challenge. I believe currently the Challenge is a month or so. The OG Challenge would be about two weeks to give those with a career/job to take some time off from work. I wonder if they would consider the Atlanta cast because they have been ignored by the Challenge. Yes, they're not OGs but why not? They're alums. I also would like to see Road Rules come off in some shape or form. Maybe have the Roadies travel by boat and do their missions in coastal towns/cities and have none of the Roadies drive, I wonder if Derrick crashing into a tree ended Road Rules. Still a big fan of D. Also, to MTV/BMP make the OG season happen.
