Who should be the Bucs Quarterback in 2020? Part 2
Since the coronavirus has canceled the other leagues, the NFL offseason is the only game in doing anything (though it is going to be limited). Also, I felt like I left out some QBs in my first part of Who should be the Bucs Quarterback in 2020. So I decide to make a second part since A) Why not? and B) the NFL Offseason is the only thing going on (that and hearing that some players got affected by the coronavirus including Rudy Gobert's teammate Donovan Mitchell). Also, there's talk that ESPN will release 30 for 30 The Last Dance about Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls earlier than the June 2 release date first shown but that's for another post. Here's my list part 2 and we're going to start with a guy they won't get.
Sign Tannehill: He's been a solid QB with the Dolphins. Granted yes he was traded away to the Titans where he Marriota's backup until week 7 and never looked back. He had a Pro Bowl season and won the Comeback Player of the Year Award. Also, he led the Tennessee Titans to the Conference Championship game. Plus he did lead the Dolphins to the playoffs in 2016. He has good solid numbers. OK not Drew Brees, Dan Marino numbers but still. Plus he's younger than Brady and Rivers.
Con: The Titans and Tannehill agree to a four-year 118 Million deal so unless he has second thoughts, he's staying in Nashville.
Sign Teddy Bridgewater: He's younger than most of the starting quarterbacks out there in free agency. He's 27. He has a proven track record with the Minnesota Vikings and probably still would have been their QB if not for a gruesome ACL tear. Eventually got a second chance with the Saints last season winning all five of his starts when Drew Brees was injured.
Con: Granted he doesn't have the track record as some of the other Quarterbacks. The only drawback I can think of.
Sign PJ Walker or Jordan Ta'amu: Both showed off their talent in the XFL and were the best QBs in the league and PJ Walker was on the practice squad of the Colts (maybe Andrew Luck could convince Bruce Arians to sign Walker like Luck did with his dad who is the XFL commissioner) and both are younger than the other Quarterbacks. Plus Tommy Maddox had a good year in 2002 after leaving the XFL. Just saying.
Cons: Both are 5'11" which is short for a QB (though yes there's Baker Mayfield, Drew Bress, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray). Also, the XFL, unsure if Arians would trust Walker or Ta'amu but could be good backup options.
Sign Tom Brady: I know I know but there's a lot of chatter plus the Bucs do have a good receiving crop so they do have the weapons to make him happy. He did have a good year last season and probably still better than most quarterbacks in the league. The Bucs are going all-in on Brady.
Con: HE'S OLD. He's going to 43 in the 2020 season. Maybe they'll get a season out of them. Plus there are rumors that if a team signs him, Brady would ask for them to bring in Antonio Brown. That's not going to happen here. Arians does not want to coach AB again (Arians was an assistant coach in Pittsburgh went AB was there).
I said try to get Bridgewater but it's not my decision. Just hope they sign the right guy.
