The NBA and Lebron is wrong here
I've been thinking about my next post would be about the Impeachment and how the Republicans would rather suck the president's dick then actually look at the evidence (or they did but they're choosing to save their own asses [and Trumps] than actually do their jobs) or the NBA and China and tweet from Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey that started the problems between NBA and China. I decided to talk about the NBA because I'm getting tired of talking politics and it seems no matter what I typed, no one freaking cares, especially with Republican voters (though this post will be partly political). Plus NBA season started so why not? As you know NBA had an eventful offseason with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving going to Brooklyn, Paul George and Kwahi Leonard going to the Clippers, Rich Paul assisting Anthony Davis to get traded to the Lakers, Russell Westbrook going the Houston Rockets, among other moves in the NBA. Usually, the would be the biggest news in the NBA and it was. However, it was topped by Daryl Morey tweet supporting Hong Kong during the preseason. Good for him but sadly bad for the NBA and China. For some context, Hong Kong was under British rule until 1997 then China took over. Things between mainland China and Hong Kong have been rocky in the past decade and that's putting it mildly. Hong Kong has been protesting China on its anti-extradition bill which allows people who commit crimes in Hong Kong to be transported to mainland China. They have been protesting ever since. Now, what does the NBA have to do with this? China is one of the biggest fans of the NBA and spent a lot of money on the NBA but with the Morey tweet on Hong Kong things have been rocky to said the least on the relationship between the NBA and China. Chinese companies have cut ties the NBA, the Chinese league led by Hall of Famer and Rockets legend Yao Ming have cut tries to the NBA, and Chinese TV didn't air the preseason game between the Nets and the Lakers. Since then the NBA is doing whatever they can improve their relationship including NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta, and Lebron James saying that Morey didn't know what he's talking about and Morey later backtracked on his tweet (no word if he did on his own accord or forced to, guessing the latter). Like he needed another reason to be on the hot seat (that trade for the Rockets to get Russell Westbrook better work for them or it's his job, again before his free Hong Kong post). Senators Ben Sasse and 2018 Ungrateful Bitch of the Year Winner Rick Scott criticized Lebron on his tweet. Granted yes Lebron has been critical of their boy Trump however isn't Trump trying to make a deal work with China? Calling out people for doing deals with a brutal regime while you're doing the same is Hypocritical. They have no moral high horse there. However, millions of jobs are at stake. As much as I hate to say it but we need to strike a deal with China. Heck, we need it more than China does. Hey, if someone has a way to save millions of jobs and not dealing with China, I'm for it. The NBA is fighting to keep business in China to prevent to salary cap to be 3-5 millions less. Yeah, I think you guys wouldn't have much of a problem with losing business in China. Plus the NBA who prided themselves allowing their players to speak up on social issues are tight-lipped on China and was won't allow their fans to speak up about Hong Kong, most of them supported Morey. In a preseason game in Philly, a dozen fans were booted for having Free Hong Kong posters and NBA added a zero-tolerance policy to prevent more of these. Sorry but I support Morey there and honestly Lebron I hope Space Jam 2 is worth it for you to support China.
