The Real World and the Challenge

     As you know from some of my posts I am a fan of the Challenge on MTV. The new season is coming up and I'm not sure I want to see it (OK I probably will since it starts August 28th with nothing really on TV). Not thrilled with the cast, I miss it when it was between two shows and only two shows which were the Real World and Road Rules. I know since Road Rules went good-bye in 2007 and Real World was struggling for a time and put on life support until recently. So the Challenge needed new blood with Fresh Meat, and then Are You The One people showed up then the other reality shows from other channels and other countries. Last season, was the first team that a non-Real World, Road Rules/Challenge personality won the challenge solo in Turbo from Survivor Turkey (yes I know Hunter won the challenge in season 32 though he did it with a Real World alum Ashley M, sadly for him). I admit I'm not too thrilled with the new shows joining in. I was watching this show since the Inferno (season 8 I believe though saw some episodes of the Gauntlet which was season 7). I understand especially with the original shows ran dry but I do miss when it was just the Real World/Road Rules/Challenge alums. I would like to see Road Rules get another reboot (though I doubt that especially since I highly doubt producers trust young people driving an RV like they did back in 1995-2004,2007). However, the main show behind the Challenge is back in the Real World and even with the upcoming season, the show still has Real World alums on the Challenge. Real World started in 1992, originally MTV wanted to do a soap opera but creators Jonathan Murray and Mary Ellis-Bunim said it would be too expansive so decided on having seven regular people live together and the rest was history. It aired for 28 seasons until the producers decided to mixed it up a bit with specialty seasons like Ex-plosion (people live with their ex), Skeletons (people stay with people they hate), Go Big or Go Home (closest we got to see a Road Rules season though it sucked), and Bad Blood (hated family members). After Bad Blood, Real World went on hiatus for two years until it got a new home on Facebook Live (though MTV studios are still behind on the show). Also, the show went back to basics to being a social experiment with no specialty seasons. Honestly, I believe they got a great cast for the show. The cast is older than the usually seasons. Originally, the ages of the cast were 18-24 but raised to 21 and older. Now it's 21-34. In the Typical Real World seasons, only three would be eligible. Of the seven roommates, we have three Trump supporters including a gay black man (seriously), a farm boy from Michigan who won the vote for the seven roommate vote (we think, I know I went there), a catholic woman whose a virgin and inspiring to be a sports reporter  Meagan (sounds like my type at least the Catholic and Sports parts minus supporting Trump part), a black activist who might be from the Tampa Bay Area (Justin), a social worker from Arizona (Tovah), A muslin woman (Yasmin) whose a pansexual teacher who supports positive body organizations, and a DACA recipient who is also a young mother and the youngest of the group. So far, Arely (the DACA person) is still in the US. Hopefull the Gestapo (ICE) doesn't take her away again I went there but look at what Germans did to Jewish people among others in the 1930s to the 1940s. I'm not going to said much about the show because I want to watch for yourselves and judge again for yourselves. Here's the link below.

Honestly, I think it deserves another season or two especially have a season where it's filming during the election and have a house from half Trump Supporters and half Democratic Supporters and see what happens. Then again, during this season you had two Trump Supporters (Clint the farm boy and Dondre the gay black guy) fight each other multiple times. I like each castmember expect for Clint. Also, I do have a crush on Meagan there I'm going to say it. Now the most important question, will any of the cast of this season be on the Challenge in the future? Of the last two seasons, only Kailah was done multiple challenges. Of the other 21 possible people, only 3 have a challenge. This needs to change MTV. At least have one or two on War of the Worlds Three from Atlanta. Plus at least five people from the cast are interested in doing the challenge including Arely though unsure if she could do that unless it takes place in America. It would nice if her and other females alums who are moms do a challenge special "The Challenge Baby Shower" where they complete for money for family needs and/or money for college. Also, I would like to see MTV film a season in Tampa. No special reason other than just for the heck of it. Plus maybe get more people to see a Rays Game (at least before 2021). Also there's Real World filming in Mexico and Thailand. Maybe we will see a War of the World 3 with more Real World people.
