Public Shaming

After seeing this from John Oliver's Last Week Tonight segment on Youtube where talks about his main stories which usually is topics hardly anyone is talking. This one is one of those topics though there's plenty of material for this topic. That topic on St. Patrick's Day is public shaming. He did cover the recent college admission scandal. Honestly, I don't feel bad for Lori Loughin and her husband but I do feel bad (for now depending on what else comes out) daughters especially Olivia Jade who lost endorsement deals because of this scandal. I think that's wrong especially since again as of right now, there's no proof the daughters were involved in this scandal or any other kid whose parents were busted in the scandal. I think it's wrong that those companies terminated deals for Olivia Jade without any freaking proof that she did any wrongdoing (Tresemme was added to the list). Sorry but that's wrong if anything put a hold on the deals then investigate. Granted I can't stop anyone from hating on Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade especially those who wanted to go to USC and had the grades, the test scores, and/or was actually the rowing team in high school to get in and yet didn't get it. If those people want hate on them then I can't blame them, I would be pissed as well. Granted Oliver didn't talk about this I will figure I will talk because since it's the same topic. Also, a youtube celebrity (yes is a thing), was shamed after going after Olivia Jade (kind of). Alexa "Harlow" Brooks went to the same high school as Olivia Jade for a week. She posted on youtube (type either Harlow or Harlow Brooks)  where she talked about the coursework which was a lot and that some of the girls were on so much pressure by their parents and took Adderall, anti-depressants among others and she wonder how did Olivia Jade have the time to do youtube videos with the coursework she did. In Harlow Brooks experience in the school (Marymount High School), she spent six hours doing homework and that she didn't have any time for anything else but school. She also hoped that Olivia Jade was OK. After it post, she got hate from Olivia Jade's classmates, the school newspaper, and the school itself because the school is being run by assholes accuse her saying false, misleading statements. Really have you look at your students or you just count the money their parents gave you and call it a day?  Harlow said nothing wrong about Olivia Jade, she just wondering how she's manage what she did. Also I was in the High School newspaper and if my paper attack a student/former student during the time I was there, my school doesn't have a paper no more and I might have gone to another school possibly. Then again, my journalism teacher would not allowed that crap. Why a Catholic church there would allowed that is behind me. Oliver also talked about the so-called Aunt from Hell. The story was an aunt sued her nephew for hurting her while he jumped in her arms and hugged her. However, it's not the whole story. Her insurance wouldn't cover all of her medical bills and go through her relatives homeowners insurance but she had to name someone in a lawsuit and named her nephew WITH APPROVAL WITH HER NEPHEW AND HIS PARENTS. Sadly, people most of the time just read the headline and not the whole story. Honestly, even with approval I think she should have put someone else name on the lawsuit like her sister/brother but that's me. It also hurt her chances of getting work when she was looking for work. Granted it was a few years ago and unsure things approve for her or not. I hope it did. Also, he covered Monica Lewinsky which including a 10 minute interview with her closing the topic. We all know the story with her and Bill Clinton and how she was ran through the ringer especially from the late night comedians including Jay Leno who said recently that late night should be more "Civil". He's one of the last people to said that especially after those Monica jokes. I wonder if John Oliver's book about Jay Leno is on sale (look at the clip in the 12:51 mark on youtube clip of Oliver's Public Shaming Video). That's like Fox News accusing someone of being racist and them saying that the mainstream media should be more responsibe in covering the news. Oh wait they have done that. Also public shaming can be bad, Remember those Covington School kids? One of the main kids Nicolas Sandmann and his family have sued the Washington Post and CNN for defamation for over a half a billion dollars. It isn't just the media and late night show guilty of this. Reality TV is as well. OK maybe 50-50 because sometimes I think when someone does something in front of the camera when the red light is on they need to own it though editors can get creative and get people a bad look. Sometimes it's the fans. I don't know which Bachelorette it was but I believe she was slut shame for hooking up with multiple people. Seriously? If that was a Bachelor (and I'm sure some of them were sleeping around multiple contestants on the show), he would be getting high-five and other praises. Also there's shows like the Profit where if Marcus Lemonis walk away from a business, more than likely that company is screwed. Swanson's Fish Market is prime example, the daughter of the company's owner explain what actually happened you read it here:
https://www.swansonsfishmarket.com/the-profit--please-read
Also at one point she posted another Lemonis from someone from West End Coffee Company where one of the partners was forced out and tried to buy a business however at the time she was negotiating to buy the company the episode aired and the owner who watched said episode decided not to sell her the company. I should point out the Swanson's Fish Market was no more after December 2017. I don't know if the Profit is the reason or not but the show didn't help. I know I'm probably one of the last people to talk about this issue because I've said a much of terrible things to people. I would elborate but I like to avoid talking about a certain topic. I know we should think before said, write, or post anything about somebody. Don't get me some people deserve it but other times before we should at least wait until the facts get in before say anything.
