Rest In Peace George HW Bush
I know I spent most of my time on this blog talking a bunch of crap about Republicans and I mean it most of the time if not all of it. However, the Republicans lose another one of their own in George HW Bush who died November 30th at the age of 94. I know I'm late to the party again though I did start this post earlier though now I finishing this post. My posting days had been inconsistent and I have other posts I haven't finished yet. I know most people know him more for being the Father of George W Bush and also the Governor of Florida from 1999-2007 and Presidential Candidate himself Jeb Bush (and also helping his kids getting elected) and maybe some people remember him being President (especially in my generation) but he also a Naval Aviator, War Hero, businessman, congressman, Ambassador, Director of the CIA, Vice President (for Ronald Reagan) among others titles he held. Yes, he was only a one-term president (and so far the last one-term president). Reaganomics collapsed on into itself, Pat Buchanan deciding to run against in the primaries, and Billionaire Ross Perot (before Trump there was Ross Perot expect Perot actually had some ideas for what he would do and also he wasn't accused being a racist [I don't think]). Also, Bush going back on his promise of reading his lips no new taxes also probably Iran-Contra scandal as well (again he was Reagan VP at the time). It hurt him in the election in 1992 where Bill Clinton won and Ross Perot got about 19 percent of the vote but save the country and the country would enjoy good economic times in the 1990s. At least Bush (and you can make it a case Junior during the 2008 economic crisis) would put country over party even if it meant sacrificing his career. It seemed kind of odd considering 18 months earlier before his loss in 1992 he was rated as the most popular president in the modern era for beating the Iraqi military in the first Gulf War when he had a reason to attack Saddam Hussein's army (Iraq invaded Kuwait). Also, his tenure was highlighted for the dismantling of the Berlin Wall and the end of communism. Great Highlights during his presidency but domestically not so much again Reaganomics. It was also apparent when Donald Trump ended up being the nominate for the Republican Party. They took a stand against Trump, HW Bush actually voted for Hillary Clinton. Sadly most of the party did not and normally I said more about this but I'll behave. Sadly another mainstream respected Republican who also was a Naval aviator during wartime who was shot down in battle died in 2018 and like John McCain wasn't a big fan of Trump though unlike McCain, HW did request that Trump should come to his funeral which he did though it was awkward because he and Melania were seated with the surviving ex-presidents not named Bush who are all Democrats. Yeah, that had to be awkward. I would say more about Trump's actions but I'm going to be nice not to talk about him besides this is about HW Bush who is remembered of being a great patriot, nice and humble guy who had a good sense of humor. He was friends with Dana Carvey who impersonated him on Saturday Night Live. Rest In Peace Mr. President, said hi to McCain and your wife Barbara (who died earlier in 2018). Enjoy your thousand points of light in Heaven.
