9/11
I think things have been divisive the last couple years or so. I will admit I am not helping things with my liberal crap and trashing Republican Leaders but I think one of the few things we agree on his 9/11 was a horrible tragedy and we want to be protected from another 9/11 from occurring. I wasn't planning to do a 9/11 post but here I am and also, I'm trying not to go political on this post and also I'm, trying to nice on this post as well (except for those assholes who hijacked the planes and crashed into the towers, Pentagon, and who were about to attack the White House and of course Osama Bin Laden because screw them). I'm sure most of us know where we were if not all of us when we find out about the attacks or sadly a number of people saw the second tower get hit live on TV or in person if you were in New York with the Twin Towers or Washington DC with the Pentagon or Pennsylvania where the fourth plane crashed. I was in Tampa Bay Technical High School as a junior. I believe it was the fourth period and I was in my World History class when the intercom came on to announce to the school, what happened in New York and Washington DC (the news of the fourth plane didn't come up until later) and we turned on the TV and were glued to the TV. It was like that for a few classes until the sixth period Algebra I believe where we had a test so we took that then back to the TV after the test. I don't remember my reaction when the tower collapsed then, now it bothers me especially if I see the 2000's a documentary series on CNN (I know I know) executive produced by Tom Hanks where they talked about 9/11 during the episode covering the first term of Bush Jr. I have chills when I see the towers going down. Also, it was picture day at my school and I'm guessing half of the underclassmen (Freshmen, Sophomore, and Juniors) took their pictures after hearing the news including myself. I admit I smiled on my picture. Guessing I was able to put the events at the time aside and well smile. After school, I had a conversation with some friends about this and also I think I called my dad or my mom (probably my dad) because I have family that lives in the New York/New Jersey area and wanted to know if everyone was safe. Eventually, they are though there saw close calls. My aunt actually had a meeting in one of the towers (luckily it was canceled) and I had three cousins who were police officers at the time but they were alright. About 2,977 people weren't (including over 400 first responders who rushed into the buildings to recuse people still in the towers). Continued prayers go out to family and friends who lost their loved ones on that awful day. The sad part, more people have died after the attacks because rescue workers were there at ground zero for days and weeks and probably even months and years after breathing in the air of dust from the wreckage among other causes during the cleanup. Whatever divides us, could we put that aside for today at least.
