Three cheers to Gillum
It seems like that 2018 is the year of the upset especially in politics. Then again, it started probably in 2017 with governor's race in Virginia where Ralph Northam beat Ed Gillespie and then the US Senate in Alabama where Doug Jones beat a guy who got banned from a Alabama mall Roy Moore. OK probably calling that Virginia Governor's race an upset is probably an overstatement but US Senate race in Alabama wasn't because Alabama hardly elected Democrats. Anyone seen that clip from Sacha Baron Cohen's Who is America? where he interviewed Moore and thing beeped at Moore for being a pedophile (or should I said alleged Pedophile, probably depends if you want to go there or not). Also Arizona Republicans were smart of not voting former Sheriff Joe Arpaio (who also made an appearance on Who is America?) in the US Senate Primary (Martha McSally got the nom will be facing off against fellow congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema in the general election go Kyrsten). As some of you know the surprise victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez against Joe Crowley (no relation though like him we both lost our bids to run for US Congress for our state's 14th district granted I didn't qualify and Joe was a 10 termed congressman). Now Andrew Gillum joins Ocasio-Cortez in the biggest political upset of 2018 (so far). Most polls had former congresswoman and daughter of Bob Graham (former governor, US Senator, and Presidential candidate) Gwen to win with Gillum either being second or third. I wonder if another Andrew (Andrew Cuomo) should be worried now with former Sex in the City star Cynthia Nixon facing off against him in September. I hope she beats Cuomo whose running for his third term as governor (Guessing New York doesn't have term limits for Governor). Gillum was outspent by everyone is his primary opponents including Phillip Levine who I actually voted for and also who actually spent the most money of all the Democrats running for Governor (yes even more than Billionaire Jeff Greene by million dollars I believe 37 million to 36 million). Gillum spend about 6 million dollars. I think the reason why Gillum he win partly was because Jeff Greene didn't directly attack him (well none of opponents did really). Guessing Greene didn't think Gillum has much of a threat as said Graham or Levine was. Also Greene again lost to a black guy (in 2010 he ran for US Senate losing in the primary Kendrick Meek who lost to Little Marco Rubio because Charlie Crist decided to throw a wrench into the race because he didn't want to just give up or lose to Lil Marco in the primary). OK unsure if Meek would have won if it was just him and Lil Marco because 2010 was the year of the teabaggers and my fellow liberals didn't vote (AGAIN VOTE IN NOVEMBER PEOPLE) but I'm going to said DAMN IT CHARLIE. As for Gillum's LT. Governor pick I like to see him pick Tampa's Mayor Bob Buckhorn, St Pete's Rick Kriseman, Orlando's Buddy Dyer (have another Buddy as LT. Gov), or if Gillum wanted to go there Gainesville's Lauren Poe (why not the mayor's of the cities in the UF-FSU Rivalry get together and team up for something good). I doubt Graham should be consider because only had one term as congresswoman (heck if she's consider I like to throw my hat to the ring for Lt. Governor, Call me Gillum). Levine should at least get a look at as well (he does have more experience than Graham). Now Gillum goes against Trump's ball licker Ron Desantis who beat Adam Putnam in the GOP Primary. Or should I say Puppet since I wouldn't doubt both Desantis and Rick Scott have Trump's tiny hands up their asses (You know it's true, Rick Scott isn't and won't be independent). Also I know you're tried of me reminding to guy to vote but I wanted to point that Republicans beat the Democrats on who voted in the primaries (1.6 million to 1.5 million) if the number doesn't increase in November than the Red Storm is here to stay for four more years in Florida and we can not afford with our Education, Environment (especially with the Red Tide), among other things Rick Scott has F'ed up as governor. The state as a whole can't afford it because Florida could be underwater in 15-20 maybe faster if the Republicans take control. I don't want to move and unless you do, vote Democrat.
